It’s 2014 and I go to Tanzania, Nafasi Art space for an art residency for a month. Beautiful country, loved the weather, and I am inspired by the beautiful kitenge fabrics and patterns they have. I also continue to complete my (faces’ of Kiriogo) series and incorporate some kitenge patterns.
After coming back from Tanzania I found a new love with the Kitenge fabric and the idea of collage. Collecting new pieces of fabric from my dressmaker, lots to do.
My series on the Kitenge fabric continues on to this year, and my fascination with the different ways women tie their head gear. Four or five of these lovely pieces are still in the works, and I call them my Kitenge Beauties!
